On December 25th, 1950, assistant chief Albert Hrubetz II of the Maryville Fire Department died in the line of duty.
On the evening of December 25th, 48-year-old Albert Hrubetz was killed in a traffic accident while returning to Maryville from helping to fight a commercial fire in Collinsville. His car went out of control and struck a tree. Hrubetz was a 30 year veteran of the fire department.
