Program Description

The Illinois Fire Service Institute National Incident Management (NIMS) Program offers training in incident management training to response organizations throughout the State of Illinois. The program classes focus on advanced training for the eight command and general staff positions and the development of incident action plans to support preparedness, response and recovery activities at the local and state level.

Course topics include Command and General Staff for Local Incident Management Teams, IS 300 and IS 400 training, All Hazard Incident Management Team Training and the position specific classes for each of the eight command and general staff positions

The program helps local incident management teams, local response organizations and elected and appointed officials to understand the incident management system and gives participants a thorough knowledge of how to apply the training in the management of local responses and planned events. The program incorporates DHS training and uncomplicates the curriculum for local responders to make it relevant and useful to them.
