Program Description

The Illinois Fire Service Institute's Agriculture Rescue Program offers courses to train Firefighters who respond to incidents in the farming and rural settings.

Course topics include: Ag Rescue Techniques, Grain Bin Rescue Awareness, Grain Bin Rescue Operations, Anhydrous Ammonia Emergencies, Large Animal Rescue Awareness, Large Animal Rescue Operations, and Fires on the Farm.

These courses are designed to train Firefighters who respond to emergencies that include: tractor rollovers, auger entanglement, livestock emergencies both in the transportation and in structures on the farm. Anhydrous Ammonia Emergencies includes the properties and hazards associated with the product, along with other chemical hazards on the farm. Grain Bin Awareness focuses on activities outside of a Grain Bin. Grain Bin Operations trains responders to enter a Grain Bin. Fires on the farm focuses on firefighting in the rural setting including preplanning, water supply, attack methods and the different types of building construction typical to the farming community.
