On November 28, 1959, Chicago Fire Department Firefighter Thomas Carroll of Hook and Ladder 42, died from a fatal heart attack while fighting a small fire on S. LaSalle Street. He was transported to Roseland Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
