Incident Summary

On September 14, 1969, Chicago Fire Department Firefighter Lawrence J. Kelly of Engine 112 suffered a fatal heart attack while fighting a fire on North Wells Street. Kelly, the driver for the 3rd Division Fire Marshal, was pronounced dead at Henrotin Hospital.

Funeral services for Kelly were held at Thomas J. Cooney Sons Funeral Home, and he was buried at Graceland Cemetery. He was survived by his widow and four children.
