Incident Summary

On June 16, 1968, Chicago Fire Department Fire Marshal John Vernon Daugherty died in the line of duty. A firefighter for more than thirty years, Daugherty suffered a heart attack while directing firefighters during a fire at a factory on Harrison Street.
