Bio:

Mark Clapp joined IFSI in 1993 and in 2010 took over management of the oil and gas programs for the institute. In that role, Mark works closely with the Illinois Propane Education and Research Council (IPERC) and the Illinois Petroleum Resources Board to coordinate classes, maintain mobile and fixed props and manage the budgets and develop the curricula. Mark is an active IFSI instructor and is qualified in more than 25 skillsets for teaching.

Mark has been a firefighter since his membership in the Champaign Fire Department’s Explorer Post in 1984. He has progressively advanced in his career with positions with the Bondville Volunteer Fire Department and the Danville Fire Department. Today he serves as a lieutenant for the Urbana Fire Department and is a member of Urbana’s Hazardous Materials and Technical Rescue teams. He also works with industrial organizations dealing with fall protection and rescue from communication towers and wind turbines.

Mark holds an Associate’s Degree in Fire Science Technology. He maintains Illinois state level certifications in Technical Rescue, firefighting and officer training.
