Collinsville Firefighter Colin Fuhrmann was awarded the Medal of Valor for his actions during an apartment fire in 2021.
Late in the night on Jan. 4, 2021, Collinsville firefighters were alerted to an apartment fire. When they arrived on the scene, they were told someone was trapped in the building. Fuhrmann headed up to the second floor, another firefighter following with a hose. The hose got tangled, but Fuhrmann continued in his search at risk to his own safety.
Fuhrmann was able to locate the victim in a closet. The victim was then extricated and the fire extinguished.
