Firefighter Raymond Cullar of the Chicago Fire Department received the Medal of Valor for his efforts to rescue a person who was on the train tracks in 2010.
Cullar responded to a call of someone possibly jumping on elevated train tracks. He used the aerial ladder with a harness to access the catwalk and approach the victim from behind while a partner distracted him. He made a grab for the man while he stood on the guard rail 70 feet above the track and was able to subdue and bring the man to safety.
