Downers Grove Firefighters and Paramedics Quinn Triplett, Scott Sohn and Andrew Hoff were presented with the Medal of Valor for their efforts to save an occupant trapped in a second-floor bedroom in a single family home.
On February 4, 2017, Triplett, Sohn, and Hoff encountered a single family home heavily engulfed in fire on the first floor with an occupant trapped in a second floor bedroom. Downers Grove fire apparatuses started a fire attack and attempted an interior rescue but were driven back by the severity of the fire. After the arrival of other Downers Grove companies, Engine 3 attempted a second interior rescue in the face of personal injury and risk of life. The victim was quickly found and removed through a window. Triplett, Sohn and Hoff enabled the victim to be located and removed from the structure.
