Firefighters Thomas Garswick and Jason Lach of the Chicago Fire Department received the Medal of Honor for their actions in rescuing an unconscious man from a burning structure in Chicago in 2014.
Firefighters Thomas Garswick and Jason Lach of Squad 5 were directed to conduct a search of a burning 2 ½ story building with heavy smoke conditions. They had to remove debris and forcibly enter two doors obstructed by the clutter. They located the unconscious victim once inside and removed him from the building.
