Odin Fire Protection District Firefighter Christopher Pratt was awarded the Medal of Honor for his actions to rescue a child from a burning vehicle in Odin on December 21, 2011.
Pratt was driving to work in the morning when he came upon a car accident. The car was on fire with victims inside. Pratt broke through the back window with a club and crawled through. The child’s buckle had already melted, so he cut the restraint using a knife he had had in his own car. He then pulled the child out of the car to safety with seconds to spare.
