Lieutenant Robert Buese and Firefighter Thomas Thompson of the Franklin Park Fire Department were awarded the Medal of Valor for their efforts to rescue a victim from an apartment fire in Franklin Park, Illinois on April 27, 2011.
Lieutenant Buese and Firefighter Thompson were driving on Rose Street when they spotted a fire emanating from an apartment complex at 3826 N. Rose. The exited their vehicles and donned their gear. They proceeded to alert residents to evacuate. A tenant alerted them that somebody was calling for help. Buese and Thompson heard the cries and forced their way into the apartment. There, they found a victim, whom they carried to safety.
